Jetcraft Commercial delivers two CRJ-1000s to newly launched Basra Airlines

Jetcraft Commercial, the commercial aircraft division of global aviation trading firm Jetcraft, is announcing the delivery of two Bombardier CRJ-1000 regional jets to Basra Airlines, a newly launched Iraqi carrier preparing to commence operations in March 2026.
The arrival of the aircraft marked a key milestone in Basra Airlines’ launch and certification journey, supporting the successful achievement of the airline’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) on 24 December 2025. With certification secured, Basra Airlines is now advancing preparations to begin commercial operations. The CRJ-1000 fleet is expected to initially serve domestic routes from Baghdad, complemented by regional services to strategic destinations including Dubai, Beirut, and Amman.
Raphael Haddad, President, Jetcraft Commercial, says: “This transaction reflects Jetcraft Commercial’s ability to deliver tailored fleet solutions that meet the specific needs of new market entrants. The CRJ-1000 is a proven regional jet with strong operating economics, making it ideally suited to supporting efficient, reliable connectivity in emerging and underserved markets.
“We are proud to support Basra Airlines at this pivotal stage, providing the aircraft needed to establish and grow its regional network across Iraq and the Middle East.”
Basra Airline’s initial operational focus includes high-demand domestic routes, regional connectivity and charter operations, expanding into scheduled international and dedicated cargo services later in 2026.
Moffak Sabir Hamad, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Basra Airlines, says: “The introduction of our two CRJ-1000 aircraft marks an important step in bringing Basra Airlines into service. Their efficiency, range and performance are well aligned with our phased launch approach, enabling us to establish reliable regional connectivity while laying the foundations for future international expansion.
Guided by our vision, ‘From Marshes to the Mountains, Connecting the World’, we are focused on building a modern, reliable and competitive airline that contributes to Iraq’s economic development and enhances regional connectivity.”
Jetcraft Commercial continues to strengthen its presence across the Middle East, supporting both new and established airlines with strategic fleet solutions that enable sustainable growth from launch through to long-term expansion.
