Brief History
The Cessna Citation XLS is a midsize business jet developed by Cessna in the early 2000s as an enhanced version of the original Citation Excel. Introduced in 2003, the XLS was designed to combine the performance and range of larger jets with the runway flexibility and operating efficiency of smaller models. The success of the XLS led to the next evolution, the Citation XLS+, in 2008, which added FADEC-controlled engines and further avionics upgrades.
Worldwide Appeal
There are 307 Citation XLS business jets in operation today. The majority of these (80.78%) are wholly owned, 19.22% are in a fractional ownership. None are currently leased. North America has the largest percentage of Citation XLS aircraft (74.92%), followed by West Europe (15.34%). NetJets owns the largest fleet of Citation XLS aircraft with 61.
