Q&A with Gaspard Milazzo – G-Yachts

How long have you been at your current organization?

I have been in the yachting industry since I was born, as my parents were pioneers in boat sales and charters in the early 70’s in the French Riviera. I created my company, G-Yachts (originally called Gaspard Yachts), in 1999.

What are your responsibilities within your organization?

I am the CEO of G-Yachts, so I supervise all operations within the company, but I also carry on working as a yacht broker as this is what I really enjoy.

Describe a typical day or week in your role.

I spend a lot of my time between Monaco and Cannes, as we have an office in both places. Regardless of where I am, like most of us, the first thing I do when I open my eyes is read my emails. Then I spend a lot of time at the office among my team talking about sales, charters and management, as I really believe that good communication is a key to success. I also travel quite a bit to meet clients and attend many events all over the world, which I really enjoy. My favorite part of the day is when I can come home to my family and 3 wonderful daughters.

What do you love most about your job?

Receiving a signed Bill of Sale : ). I love the excitement and feeling of achievement when I close a deal for a client. I think all brokers get the same excitement in these moments, which have required a lot of work to make them happen. Also, discovering new and creative designs, always-smarter technologies and experiencing impressive innovation on new and unique yachts is another thing that I love about working in this amazing industry.

What is the relationship between Jetcraft and G-Yachts?

First I was a friend of Jahid (Jetcraft Chairman) and his family. We quickly realized that G-Yachts and Jetcraft had many similarities – both are specialists in their field, and each have a global footprint where they work with a similar client base. We have now become long time industry friends and attend together many events of both industries where our teams can work together.

Who or what has been your greatest professional influence?

As I mentioned, my parents used to sell and charter smaller boats and I started working with them when I was 16. My father was tough and demanding with me but he taught me everything that I needed to know. He was a self-made-man coming from a family of fishermen and he showed me every day that success was only a matter of will and hard work. Following his footsteps I created my own company called Gaspard Yachts at the age of 23 and was referenced by the famous Boat International magazine as the youngest independent yacht broker at the time.

Honest. Love. Business.

What one item would you never travel without on a long haul flight?

My iPhone and the latest Boat International issue.

I cannot tell you as it will not be a hidden talent anymore : )

I otherwise I like riding horses and spending some quality time with family and friends.
