Q&A with Photographer Steve Schulte

Steve Schulte, Owner/Photographer, Steve Schulte Photography, LLC.

How long have you been working with Jetcraft?

I have been doing aircraft photography for Jetcraft since 2008.

What are your responsibilities within your organization/describe what your company does for Jetcraft?

I provide visual representation of their aircraft listings, both photos and videos, for their marketing materials.

Describe a typical day or week in your role.

A typical day for me would be to complete photo edits from previous photo shoots, answer emails, schedule travel and prep equipment for upcoming shoots.  Weather and aircraft schedules also play a big part in planning.  Years ago shoots were much easier, as now we have to deal with so many new airport restrictions/regulations in that many airports now require photo permits.

What do you love most about your job?

I really enjoy the travel, visiting many new destinations and getting to see places most would never dream of.  With airline schedules I can usually plan a trip to be out and back in the same day so it’s not too taxing on the family life.  Another big plus to my work would be getting to see so many different aircraft and hanger operations that most would not get the opportunity to see.   Many of the clients are big corporate operations and/or famous people.  It’s really interesting to me to see how big corporations operate their flight departments, there’s so many moving parts and yet they still figure out how to do it safely and efficiently.

How would you describe your relationship with Jetcraft?

I have been honored to have had Jetcraft as a customer for as long as I have.  Jetcraft has sent me on so many amazing adventures (missions) around the world, whether helping with photos, maintenance assistance, and sales closings, its always a new experience with a story.  From a personal experience they have always treated our family like part of their family. From inviting my wife and I to many of their company retreats around the world, to sending our family a card and flowers for our first child’s birth, they’ve always gone above and beyond.

Who or what has been your greatest professional influence?

Industry Professional Aviation Photographer Paul Bowen was a big inspiration for me.  His amazing air to air photos drew me into what I do today. Paul would always make time to take a call from me to ask questions about the industry and give great photo pointers.  I think it’s important to pass along information to the younger generation no matter what line of work we do as Paul did for me.  Thanks PB!!

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Adventurous, Generous, Clever

What one item would you never travel without on a long haul flight?

My noise cancelling Apple Air pods are a must with all the airline travel!

Finally, what is your hidden talent or hobby?

A hobby that I enjoy is mountain biking. As far as a hidden talent – as a former corporate aircraft mechanic I’ve always enjoyed fixing things, I like a challenge and even more so when I can make something better than it was before it broke.  I seem to always be evaluating how mechanical things are made and how they could be better.
