Jetcraft Owner Featured on CNN’s Passion to Portfolio

Jetcraft Owner Featured on CNN’s Passion to Portfolio

Jetcraft Owner and Chairman Jahid Fazal-Karim spoke with Anna Stewart on for CNN’s Passion to Portfolio segment. Below is a transcript of the interview. The full interview can be seen here.

Anna Stewart: It’s one of their latest and most prized assets – a $30 million plane that offers the very latest in luxury. This is absolutely stunning and I’m loving it’s designed by Fendi?

Jahid Fazal-Karim: That’s right, these owners tend to have their favorite brands on the plane so I guess this was custom made for that airplane when they bought it. As you can see this airplane, it’s a five year old airplane, is in pretty good shape for five years old. We sold this airplane when it was new and now we’re buying it back.

Anna Stewart: Jahid Fazal-Karim is the owner of Jetcraft, a business which buys and sells private jets. For him it’s the realization of a long held dream.

Q&A with Jonah Adler – Jet Edge

Q&A with Jonah Adler – Jet Edge

Jonah Adler, Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer, Jet Edge

How long have you been at your current organization?

I have been on the Client Advisory Board of Jet Edge for 2 years, and active in my operating role for 1 year.

What are your responsibilities within your organization?

As CRO/CMO I am responsible for all of the company’s Sales and Marketing efforts. This includes driving strategy and management of all of our sales teams (jet sales, jet management, and charter), and our Marketing/PR/Community team. I also consider one of the most important parts of my role to support our Founder/CEO in helping him continue to execute his vision.

Describe a typical day or week in your role.

I typically spend about 70% of my time at our new HQ on the field at VNY. The remaining balance is split between visiting our customers worldwide, and recruiting amazing talent from both inside and outside aviation to join the Jet Edge team. My days are always pretty structured. Early morning meditation followed by exercise. First meetings/calls start around 08:30. Followed by spending as much time face to face with our team as possible. You can also find me in the hangar every day inspecting aircraft and making sure they look flawless and ready for charter. The true highlight of my day is connecting with my daughter who is 5, and is always very confused when other people are on “her” plane when we fly commercial!

What do you love most about your job?

The best part of my role is being able to see and touch the full lifecycle of our business. From the sale of an aircraft to a new owner, all the way through to seeing that owner enjoy their aircraft and generate the best charter revenue industry-wide to significantly offset their cost of ownership. Nothing gets my adrenaline pumping more than sending an owner the confirmation of a $1m charter.

Gulfstream GIV-SP Overview (1992 – 2002)

Gulfstream GIV-SP Overview (1992 – 2002)

Product Overview

The Gulfstream GIV/GIV-SP is a midsize cabin business jet with significant improvements including a larger cabin, longer-range and advanced development over the earlier GII and GIII. The biggest improvement with the GIV/GIV-SP over the earlier Gulfstream models is the Rolls-Royce Tay engines which bring more efficient fuel burn and lowered noise emission.

The GIV/GIV-SP is the first in the Gulfstream family to employ Goodyear Aerospace’s brake-by-wire system and a Dowty fail-passive steer-by-wire system, making maneuverability easier. The Gulfstream GIV-SP gross takeoff weight is a 1,400 pound increase over the GIV.

As of October 2018, 85% of Gulfstream GIV-SP aircraft were purchased pre-owned by their current owners, the other 15% new. 8.9% are for sale with the majority of those (86%) under an exclusive broker agreement. When for sale, the average time on the market is 339 days.

Brief History

The Gulfstream GIV-SP (SP stands for Special Performance) replaced the GIV in September 1992. The GIV-SP has higher payload and landing weights and improved payload range performance. There is an Aircraft Service Change (ASC) 190 modification which allows an owner/operator to upgrade a GIV to a GIV-SP. A total of 304 GIV-SP business jets were built, 2 are retired.

Worldwide Appeal

There are 302 Gulfstream GIV-SP business jets in operation today. Most of these are wholly owned (295) with 4 in shared ownership and 3 in fractional ownership. 11% are currently leased. North America has the largest percentage of wholly owned Gulfstream GIV-SP aircraft (86%), followed by Asia (6%).

Our Century Milestone

Our Century Milestone

It is with a great deal of gratitude to our partners, clients and friends that we announce, for the first time in our history, the completion of more than 100 transactions in one year.

There are no shortcuts to success. For more than 55 years, you have gifted us your loyalty, trust and support. In return, we’ve been able to extend the Jetcraft family to over 20 locations across the globe. And whether we’re in Hong Kong, New York or London, the warm welcome we’ve received has helped us to become a global company without losing that essential, local feel.

This is due to the helping hands and open minds of each person we’ve encountered who has become a part of our network. We started as a small company and we still have that mentality. Each individual makes up an integral part of this milestone, and it is to you that we are indebted.

Dassault Falcon 2000 Overview (1995 – 2006)

Dassault Falcon 2000 Overview (1995 – 2006)

Product Overview

The Falcon 2000 is a twin-engine French-made business jet and is essentially a slightly smaller development on the Falcon 900 trijet, with United States transcontinental coast to coast market range.

The Falcon 2000 jet comes with fault monitoring and digital diagnostic systems, which help the mechanic in troubleshooting and repair work.  Most parts of the airplane are positioned to be easy for mechanics to reach and maintain.  The Falcon 2000 was designed to spend as little downtime in the shop as possible.

As of October 2018, 84% of Falcon 2000 aircraft were purchased pre-owned by their current owners, the other 16% new. 10.4% are for sale with the majority of those (77%) under an exclusive broker agreement. When for sale, the average time on the market is 196 days.

Brief History

Dassault introduced the Falcon 2000 as the Falcon X in 1989 and carried out the development of the aircraft in partnership with Alenia. The first flight came in 1993 with entry into service in 1995. A total of 231 Falcon 2000 business jets were built, 1 is retired.

The Falcon 2000 was the first private jet that Dassault designed without a physical model.  Its design was completely digital, created by Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA) software. This software helped improve aerodynamic structure and simplified the airplane’s systems.

Worldwide Appeal

There are 230 Falcon 2000 aircraft in operation today. Most of these are wholly owned (199) with 9 in shared ownership and 22 in fractional ownership. 8% are currently leased. North America has the largest percentage of wholly owned Falcon 2000 aircraft (78%), followed by Europe (9%), and Asia (8%). NetJets has the largest fleet of Falcon 2000 aircraft (17).

Buyer behavior over the next 10 years

Buyer behavior over the next 10 years

How findings from our 10-year market forecast reflect real-world trends in the private jet market

The annual NBAA-BACE trade show is defined by one thing – an industry-wide interest in, and passion for, aviation.

Which is why Aerion’s announcement – that the first transatlantic supersonic jet since Concorde would soon be taking to the skies – was greeted with such enthusiasm at this year’s show. Aerion announced that the jet is on track to fly in June 2023, with the first transatlantic crossing the same year, 20 years after the celebrated Concorde flew its last.

The faster-than-sound business jet will undoubtedly be a market disruptor, particularly given its anticipated intercontinental capabilities, which will be a key indicator of its market performance. According to Jetcraft’s new 10-year market forecast, those regions where business needs are increasingly globalized will take the lead in terms of unit deliveries. North America is set to account for 60% of deliveries (5,241 units) over the forecast period, with Europe taking second place at 18% (1,572), and Asia Pacific third at 13% (1,136).

Citation Sovereign Overview (2004 – 2013)

Product Overview

The Cessna Citation Sovereign was designed to provide overall excellent performance while allowing exceptional comfort for passengers. It was first introduced as a high-performance jet to plug the gap between the Excel/XLS and Citation X, but its claim to fame is that it can take-off and land at short distances thanks to a moderately swept high-aspect ratio wing.

As of August 2018, 58% of the Citation Sovereign aircraft were purchased pre-owned by their current owners, the other 42% new. 3.7% are for sale with half of those (54%) under an exclusive broker agreement. When for sale, the average time on the market is 344 days.

Brief History

The Cessna Citation Sovereign was first unveiled in 1998 at the NBAA Annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada and the first flight took place in February 2002. FAA certification was awarded in June 2004 and customer deliveries began later that same year. Production of the Citation Sovereign ended in 2013 as the Sovereign+ began deliveries. A total of 350 Citation Sovereign business jets were built, 1 is retired, 1 is at the manufacturer.
