How long have you been at Jetcraft?

I joined Jetcraft in 1995, so that means next year I will be celebrating my 20th anniversary with the company!  Before joining the company I was a researcher at another aircraft brokerage firm for about six years.

What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team?

Data Comm Update

Data Comm Update

Anticipate and Prepare for the Way Ahead.

World Aircraft Sales, Feb 2014

by Ken Elliott

Download a PDF of the article.

The following update covers the current status of Data Communications at a time when industry and the FAA begin to finalize a new Air Traffic Network standard and Europe implements more of its Link 2000+.

In the NextGen/SESAR and ICAO automation environment, data transfer and surveillance are both key enablers. There is a lot of history and regional variance in their migration, so today we operate in a realm of confusion. Cutting to the chase we have two major areas to consider; Communication and Surveillance.

Communication: This comes under ATNB1, and while the future means of transmission is VDL-2 the current means can be via existing ACARS (POA), HFDL and in some cases Satcom (Inmarsat or Iridium). Communication is also part of FANS that includes surveillance. Communication is typically via text messaging like on your mobile phone, but is more complex. ATN-B1 is...

The result is a larger international footprint for Jetcraft and a strengthening of its on-the-ground coverage, allowing for more localized customer service across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India.

The joining of the two teams, part of a deal announced last August, solidifies Jetcraft’s position as the world’s largest business aviation dealer/broker and further enhances its dedication to local customer service. “There are benefits to being the biggest player in any given market,” said Chad Anderson, President of Jetcraft. “In our case, it translates into faster, ...

Moscow: A Business Magnet

Moscow: A Business Magnet

Moscow. It embodies the Russia of both yesterday, today, and tomorrow. As a bustling city of about 11 million, the city has cultivated the post-Communism capital spirit. Companies worldwide have taken notice. Just last year, for example, Morgan Stanley transacted the largest real estate deal at that time: the $1.2B purchase of the sprawling Metropolis Shopping and Entertainment Mall in Northwest Moscow.

Moscow now is an international financial center, and companies from other sectors have grown a strong branch presence there over the past two decades. It’s no wonder that Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport is the leading airport for international departures in Europe (according to Avinode Marketplace). Vnukovo is convenient to the city, and its runway capacity can handle 60 aircraft movements per hour—even in compromised, low-visibility weather.

The appeal of staying awhile

One of the world’s most expensive cities, Moscow nevertheless is well worth the visit—wheth...

Making a Difference, One Child at a Time

Making a Difference, One Child at a Time

Jetcraft Supports UNICEF’s Humanitarian Project, Helps Protect One Million Children a Year.

Every year, three million babies worldwide die in the first 28 days of life. The majority of neonatal deaths result from complications related to preterm birth and infection. Most of these fatalities are preventable with a vaccine administered to the mothers.

Jetcraft has partnered with L’VOYAGE, Sino Private Aviation (HK) Limited (SPAL), and UNICEF to raise funds to provide immunization services to mothers and children in need in developing countries. With only three protective doses, the mother and her future newborns are able to be protected for five years from Tetanus, which kills one newborn baby every nine minutes. Apart from vaccinating mothers, efforts will also be made to vaccinate infants against life-threatening disease.

This year, Jetcraft’s corporate support of UNICEF’s “28 Days to Save a Child’s Life” campaign will help prevent infectious disease and save the ...

What does “Pre-buy” mean?

What does “Pre-buy” mean?

Written by Dan Dunn, former Jetcraft Vice President Sales, USA

A used aircraft sale will usually include a pre-purchase inspection to verify that the condition of the aircraft meets the representations made by the seller.  This inspection is often referred to as a "Pre-Buy."  An industry standard Pre-Buy inspection requires selecting an appropriate service facility that is approved to perform work and inspections by the manufacturer. It may be a center owned by the manufacturer itself, or a mutually agreeable facility.

The scope of a pre-purchase inspection is determined on several factors, namely age of aircraft and warranty status, recent or due inspections, and comfort level with the transaction in general.  A Pre-Buy inspection is traditionally paid for by the buyer and may also include a test flight of the aircraft.

Many buyers will review the technical status of the aircraft and may negotiate with the seller to include scheduled maintenance that is near due in the ins...
