This is my 7th year with Jetcraft.  I started my tenure in Raleigh NC, where the company was founded, then relocated to London in 2018 following the opening of our new UK-based global headquarters.  It has been tremendous to see the growth and accessibility of the business aviation industry over these past 7 years.         

What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team? 

“At Jetcraft, no one gets eyes on your jet like we do.”  And I lead an extremely talented marketing team who ensure this phrase continues to remain true.

Jetcraft has appointed Gerald Hooper and Laurence Vidal to senior sales roles in the Americas. The executive hires position Jetcraft to meet customer demand throughout the continent and further expand the company’s on-the-ground market intelligence.

As Aircraft Sales Director, Hooper will lead Jetcraft’s business development in the US West Coast territories, including Northern California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Prior to joining Jetcraft, Hooper was Director of Aircraft Sales and Acquisitions at Executive Aircraft Services (EAS), working with corporate clients and aircraft worldwide.

Based in Brazil, Vidal joins Jetcraft as Sales Representative and will oversee the South American territories, including Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.  Vidal has held positions at leading OEMs, including an eight-year tenure at Bombardier Aerospace where she formulated business strategies to drive market share in the Brazilian executive aviation market.

Jetcraft Commercial has appointed Scott Symington as Vice President, Asset Management. The appointment strengthens the industry-leading asset management expertise within commercial, with Symington bringing more than 30 years’ experience to the role.

Working with Azzera, Jetcraft has removed 3,596 verified tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere, matching 100% of its own emissions, while investing in a variety of projects that deliver positive, environmental, developmental and social change around the globe. In 2022, the company supported forest conservation projects in North Carolina and Papua New Guinea and wind power supplies in South Africa.

Product Overview

The Gulfstream G600 is a sister aircraft to the G500, a smaller aircraft that was unveiled as a pair with the Gulfstream G600. Along with the Gulfstream G650ER, Gulfstream G650 and the Gulfstream G500, the G600 shares a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925. A low cabin altitude at the aircraft’s maximum altitude of 51,000 feet and 100 percent fresh air replenished every two minutes reduce the effects of jet lag. The G600 comes equipped with Gulfstream’s Enhanced Vision System, the Intelligence-by-Wire flight system provides highly calibrated flight controls, and auto throttles and autobrakes ensure peak engine performance and smoother, safer landings.

As of November 2022, 3% of the Gulfstream G600 aircraft were purchased pre-owned by their current owners, the other 97% new. 2.2% are for sale with half of those (50%) under an exclusive broker agreement. When for sale the average time on the market is 240 days.

Brief History

The Gulfstream G600 was first announced in October 2014 in Savannah, GA, US and it first flew in December 2016. In 2019 FAA certification was received and the first Gulfstream G600 was delivered in August 2019. The model is still being produced presently.

Worldwide Appeal

There are 89 Gulfstream G600 aircraft in operation today. The majority of those (88) are wholly owned with 1 in shared ownership. 17.8% are currently leased. North America has the largest percentage of wholly owned Gulfstream G600 aircraft (83%), followed by Europe (13%).

It’s an exciting time for commercial aviation in Africa. Across the entire continent, there are new trends and developments to respond to. Airlines on the continent are looking for smaller aircraft to implement into their operations, particularly narrowbody types and regional turboprops and jets. In East Africa, we’ve witnessed an increase in activity and change in key players, with Addis Ababa in Ethiopia recently becoming the biggest connecting hub in Africa. There has also been a notable increase in activity in Central Africa, alongside the usual high levels across Southern Africa, which continues to be a dynamic aviation market.

Seizing the opportunities that exist in the African commercial aviation industry means being fully aware of – and being prepared to respond to – the developing trends and the challenges that exist across the regions.

How long have you been at Jetcraft?

I have been at Jetcraft since October 2021.

What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team?

As a transaction manager I deal with all things legal. I get involved from the LOI stage onto the purchase agreement and then closing. My main role is to ensure that we have a successful and smooth closing, ensuring that we get the Bill of Sale in place, making sure that the documents are signed, and ensuring that we are not the ones holding up the transaction.

What do you love most about your job?

I like the challenge of it. Coming from a property background it is quite a similar role, but there are key differences from property to aviation. It has been a really big challenge getting to grips with the aviation law. I’ve been trying to keep up to date with it all and absorb as much information as I can so I can do the job as well as I can while also energizing myself in a challenging role.
