How long have you been at Jetcraft?

I’ve been with Jetcraft for just over six years, starting off at our Raleigh headquarters in the US. I moved over to Switzerland around two years ago to join Jetcraft’s European office here in Zurich. Before working for Jetcraft I was the sales manager for refurbishments and maintenance at Gulfstream.

What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team?

At its core, Jetcraft is a relationship-focused company. You won’t sell a single airplane if you don’t value relationships. With a steadily improving US economy, aircraft values stabilizing globally, and companies with readily available access to capital, it is an opportune time to bring aircraft into the US at a lower cost, according to Jetcraft COO Peter Antonenko.

As aircraft make their way stateside, there are a number of economic questions that both a buyer and seller must answer: Who handles export from the current country? Who handles import? Who pays taxes and other delivery costs? What will be the arrival airport? For the right answers, it means working closely with the country of registration, FAA, Customs and Border Patrol, and the Department of Treasury.

The Challenger 300 is a mid-size business jet. It offers transcontinental range and long-range cruise speed in a typical eight-passenger cabin.

The cabin of the Challenger 300 fits eight or nine passengers in a double-club configuration (three seats can be swapped out for a 3-person divan, if desired). All of the passenger seats are fully adjustable and have fold-out tables and individual AC power plugs. Two-zone air conditioning keeps both the pilots and the passengers comfortable, and low-heat LED overhead lights (with a 10,000 hour life) give the cabin an open feel.  The 106 cubic feet of baggage (750 pounds) stored in an exterior compartment is accessible in-flight through the fully enclosed lavatory. A forward luggage closet can be added as well.

I started with Jetcraft in the summer of 2013, so I am one of the newest recruits here.

What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team?

My role is to continue to develop Jetcraft’s business in Latin America. Local customer support is very important and since business is growing in this region it was crucial to have someone here on the ground to be face to face with clients.

Describe a typical day or week in your role.

There really is no typical day but I do spend a lot of my time travelling, visiting clients and viewing aircraft. I need to be out there with our customers and prospects and to see first hand what is happening in the region. There is no point to doing a deal over the phone, good relationships and the best service comes when you are face to face.

The Challenger 605 was introduced with an avionics and structural upgrade on the 604 design with the same two General Electric CF34-3B engines and wings. In a combination of club, divan and individual seating, the Challenger 605 typically carries 10-12 passengers. Structural improvements included larger and higher-positioned cabin windows.

Cockpit instrumentation was updated with new avionics displays and "electronic flight bag" capability. Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 with four-screen display system, offering 55 percent more area and an improved pilot interface.  This model can be visually identified by a new, rounded tailcone.

As of January 2014, the Challenger 605 market is comprised of 56% pre-owned. The percentage for sale is 6.9% with 100% under an exclusive broker agreement and average days on the market are 310 days.
